How to Do a Cable Triceps Pushdown

The cable tricep pushdown is a controlled exercise that directly targets the triceps. Step 1

Attach a two-handled rope or v-bar to the high pulley of a cable station.

Step 2

Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart and grab the handles with a neutral (palms in) grip. Tuck your elbows and hold the handles in front of your chest. This is the starting position

Step 3

Keeping your elbows tucked, core braced, and back flat, press the handles down until your arms are fully extended. If you’re using rope handles, pull them apart slightly at the bottom of the movement.

Step 4

Pause, and then reverse the movement to return to the starting position.
